Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve never been to therapy. What is it actually like?
Therapy can look different to many people. Some people come to therapy with objective goals they want to towards and will hone in on tools and strategies during sessions; others come to learn more about how their past affects their present and will focus on processing personal events and increasing emotional experiencing. What your goals are in therapy will determine what it will be like. As long as you are actively participating, there is no wrong way to have a therapy session.
Do I have to be in Pennsylvania to work with you?
Yes. Because my license is in Pennsylvania, you need to be in the state in order for us to work together. This is true for both in-person and virtual sessions.
How do we “meet” for virtual sessions?
I use a HIPAA-compliant online platform to hold video sessions. You will receive more information about this once we agree to work together.
Is your office handicap-accessible?
No, unfortunately. My office is on the 2nd floor up a flight of stairs and there is no elevator.
What happens if you run into one of your clients in public?
As your therapist, it is my responsibility to maintain your confidentiality. Therefore, if I were to see one of my clients outside the office, I will not acknowledge them. If you were to see me, however, you may come up to me and say hi! Just keep in mind because we are not in a session, our conversation will be limited and we will be able to discuss more at our next appointment.
How long does therapy take?
There is no straight answer for this. Everyone comes to therapy for different reasons and has different circumstances that can impact the length of therapy.
Do you take insurance?
I am credentialed with Lyra. Otherwise, I am considered “out of network” and do not take insurance. However, I can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that clients may submit to their insurance companies for potential insurance reimbursement. *It is the client’s responsibility to determine if their health insurance provider offers such reimbursements.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?
I offer a limited number of sliding scale sessions for clients experiencing financial hardship. This is based on several factors and can be discussed during a consultation.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you know you need to cancel your session for any reason, please contact me 24 hours in advance of your appointment time. A cancellation within 24 hours or no-show will result in a charge of the full session rate.
